Spanish rider Jorge Navarro, currently racing in the Moto2 class of the World Championship alongside Federal Oil Gresini, has extended his contract with the mentioned team for one more year.

Jorge Navarro has made his debut in the intermmediate class in 2017, after finishing 3rd overall in Moto3 last year. He scored two wins and 3 additional podium finishes in 2016.

After finishing 2015 with 4 rostrums in the last 5 races, Navarro has been seen as a title favourite in 2016, but his lack of consistency, combined with a considerable quantity of bad luck, gave him no chance against Brad Binder.

So far in 2017, Navarro has finished inside the points zone on 9 occasions out of 11, this making him Francesco Bagnaia’s main rival for the Rookie of the Year title.

Federal Oil has been the principal sponsor of Gresini Racing’s Moto2 team since 2012. Sam Lowes finished 5th overall alongside them in 2016, having achieved two wins and 4 other rostrums.
