The winter break has finally ended for the World Superbike guys. At Jerez, the first day of testing went on today. The final results of the first day of testing weren’t quite surprising as Jonathan Rea dominated.
The three times defending champion scored an excellent 1:39.862, a time which was with two tenths faster than Alex Lowes. The Yamaha man improved a lot in the second part of the day and managed to end the day on a high note with a very good 1:40.064.
2013 champion, Tom Sykes ended the day third. Rea’s team mate at Kawasaki was three tenths slower than Rea and managed to do a personal best in 1:40.178.
Jonathan Rea is currently trying to achieve a historical feature in the WorldSBK. If he wins the championship, he will become the first rider to do so for four seasons in a row. Also, if he becomes a champion for the fourth time, he will equal Carl Fogarty’s all time record of four WorldSBK titles.
The action from Jerez resumes tomorrow at the 12 PM local time.
